Beeing Away and Coming Back

I am back... but currently it is just physically. My thoughts and my soul are still there, back home. I don't know if living abroad means this, I don't know how others feel, I just know that leaving everything behind, instead to be easier, with the years it just gets harder.

I know clearly why I live abroad, I love my 'second' home, or better, I am in love with it, but (and there is always a but) I miss my family, friends, language, food, air... from my home.


Besides all of this, I am happy to go back to blogging and I hope you all had great holidays.

Estou de volta... mas por agora é apenas fisicamente. Os meus pensamentos e a minha alma ainda estão lá, em casa. Eu não sei se viver fora significa isto, não sei como os outros se sentem, só sei que deixar tudo para trás, em vez de ser mais fácil, com os anos fica cada vez mais difícil.

Eu sei claramente porque vivo fora, adoro a minha 'segunda' casa, ou melhor, estou apaixonada por ela, mas (e há sempre um mas) sinto falta da minha família, amigos, língua, comida, ar... da minha casa.


Apesar de tudo isso, estou feliz por voltar ao blog e espero que todos vocês tenham tido óptimos feriados.

New Friends

Yes, I AM completely aware of the number of posts that I wrote about France. But, believe me, I am trying to control myself... if not you would see much more of it.

Anyway, THIS specific post about France is different. It's a post about the new friends that I made there. It's a post about the talented girls I met and immediately felt connection with. It's a post about Lorna, Romina, Kimberly, Olivia, Jennifer, Stephanie, Nadia and Aran.

We spent 4 days together, but it felt much more. We worked, we ate, we laughed, we cried and we left France with the heart full.

This post is about my new 8 friends that I am proud of, a post about 8 great girls that I miss and I hope to meet again.

Sim, eu estou completamente ciente do número de posts que escrevi sobre França. Mas, acreditem em mim, estou a tentar controlar-me... senão iriam ver muitos mais.

De qualquer forma, este post específico sobre França é diferente. É um post sobre as novas amigas que lá fiz. É um post sobre as meninas talentosas que conheci e com as quais senti imediatamente uma ligação. É um post sobre a Lorna, a Romina, a Kimberly, a Olivia, a Jennifer, a Stephanie, a Nadia e a Aran.

Passamos 4 dias juntas, mas pareceram muitos mais. Trabalhamos, comemos, nós rimos, nós choramos e saímos de França com o coração cheio.

Este post é sobre as minhas 8 novas amigas das quais eu tenho orgulho, um post sobre 8 fantásticas meninas de quem eu sinto falta e espero encontrar novamente.

Autumn Picnic

I think this was the last summertime weekend we had in Lisbon. I could feel autumn coming... the morning fog, lower temperatures and cozy feeling. I am happy for it... I am in the mood for roasted chestnuts and hot tea before going to sleep. How about you?

I took some time to prepare this post. These photos are from our 2nd day in France. With the styling and atmosphere that we had for the shoot, it was easy to make so many great photos, but it was not easy to choose.

Acho que este foi o último fim-de-semana com tempo de Verão que tivemos em Lisboa. Estou a senti o Outono a chegar... a neblina da manhã, as temperaturas mais baixas e a sensação de aconchego. Estou feliz por isso... estou com vontade de comer castanhas assadas e beber chá quente antes de ir dormir. E vocês?

Demorei algum tempo para preparar este post. Estas fotos são do nosso 2º dia em França. Com o styling e a atmosfera que tínhamos para a sessão, foi fácil fazer tantas fotografias óptimas, mas não foi fácil escolher.

France: Day 4

I am back home but my thoughts are still here.....



Estou de volta, mas os meus pensamentos ainda estão aqui.......

France: Day 3

Unfortunately everything great in life last short, so it is with my trip to France. Today was the last day of the workshop, tomorrow we have a day to rest and visit some fantastic places and after I will head back to Bordeaux. These last 3 days were a beautiful dream. Amazing things happened:
* arriving at Bordeaux and having the help of a French girl who didn't just explain me where's the place that I needed to go, but bringing me to that place by herself
* having a ride to Vézac with three amazing ladies, who made me laugh with their stories all the time
*learning from Aran, which is not just great professional, but a great person in first place
*having Nadia and Stephanie available for everything I needed and happy to help
*eating great food and having so much fun.

What could I ask or need more?

As I said, today was the last day and our theme was 'From the market to the desk'.
We visited the local market in Sarlat and, I can tell, that place is absolutely amazing! You could find all kinds of vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, local cheeses and sausages, bread, pastries, flowers...

We bought everything for our lunch and went home to prepare mushrooms risotto. Styling, photographing, eating, editing, checking...

I must say I will be quite sad tomorrow but I am sure I will meet these girls again. I will leave this place with that thought on my mind.

Infelizmente tudo o que é bom na vida dura pouco, o que vai acontecer com a minha viagem a França. Hoje foi o último dia do workshop, amanhã temos um dia para descansar e visitar alguns lugares fantásticos e depois vou voltar para Bordéus. Estes últimos 3 dias foram um lindo sonho. Coisas incríveis aconteceram:
* Chegar a Bordéus e ter a ajuda de uma francesa que, não só me explicou onde era o sítio para onde eu precisava de ir, mas levou-me a esse lugar ela mesma
* Ter um passeio para Vézac com três senhoras incríveis, que me fizeram rir o tempo todo com as suas histórias
* aprender com a Aran, que não é apenas uma grande profissional, mas uma grande pessoa em primeiro lugar
* ter a Nadia e a Stephanie disponíveis para tudo que eu precisava e felizes por ajudar
* comer boa comida e divertir-me muito.

O que eu poderia pedir ou precisar mais?
Como disse, hoje foi o último dia e o nosso tema foi 'Do mercado para a mesa'.

Visitamos o mercado local em Sarlat e, devo dizer, aquele lugar é absolutamente incrível! Pode-se encontrar todos os tipos de legumes, frutas, cogumelos, queijos e enchidos locais, pão, bolos, flores ...

Nós compramos tudo para o nosso almoço e fomos para casa para preparar o risotto de cogumelos. Styling, fotografar, comer, editar, verificar...

Devo dizer que ficarei muito triste amanhã, mas tenho a certeza de que irei encontrar-me com estas meninas novamente. Vou deixar este lugar com esse pensamento na minha mente.

France: Day 2

Second day finished and we're about to have a great dinner made by our host.
We started early this morning and did a lot of cooking, styling and photographing. Yesterday, as you may have seen in the previous post, the theme of the day was 'A Typical Lunch', and today was all about 'Autumn Picnic'.

I'm not going to share these photos with you now but I will share a bit of the atmosphere going around here.

We had a great lunch today made by Stephanie and Nadia and, despite we didn't have much time for the lunch break, I enjoyed it a lot. Some talk, laugh and a great meal was all that was needed to get some energy for the afternoon.

O segundo dia terminou e estamos prestes a ter um grande jantar feito pela nossa anfitriã.
Começamos cedo de manhã e cozinhamos bastante, fizemos styling e fotografamos. Ontem, como devem ter visto no post anterior, o tema do dia foi 'Um Almoço Típico', e hoje foi tudo sobre 'Picnic de Outono'.

Não vou partilhar essas fotografias concosco agora, mas vou partilhar um pouco da atmosfera por aqui.

Tivemos um fantástico almoço hoje feito pela Stephanie e pela Nadia e, apesar de termos tido muito tempo para almoçar, eu gostei muito. Falamos, rimos e tivems uma óptima refeição que era tudo o que precisavamos para ter um pouco de energia para a tarde.

France : Day 1

Trip to France

Just 3 more days and I'm off to France. I'm so excited about it! It seems like my dream came true. I will work and learn from Aran Goyoaga next week and will have the great company of 5 talented girls. I will meet most of them in Bordeaux on Sunday and then head down together with them.
But... packing will have to wait for Saturday evening, because I have still a lot to do this week. My son is all this week with me recovering from his surgery, orders, fair on Saturday... but yesterday I spent some time making the list of things to bring and here is the result.

Am I missing something?

Today I miss this...

There are certain types of food that I love to buy on the street. Cooked or grilled corn is one of my favourites. Last time I went back home I spoke to a salesman and told him that I miss it so much... he laughed and said he will come next summer to Portugal to start a business here {*smile}... who knows... if you see some corn selling in Lisbon next summer, it is him for sure!!

Há certas comidas que eu gosto de comprar na rua. Milho cozido ou grelhado é uma das minhas preferidas. A última vez que voltei a casa falei com um vendedor e disse-lhe que sinto mesmo muita falta... ele riu-se e disse que virá a Portugal no próximo verão para iniciar um negócio aqui {*smile}... quem sabe ... se virem alguém a vender milho em Lisboa no próximo verão, é ele de certeza!

Split,Croatia

I am back, physically... but my thoughts and soul are still with my family and friends.
I have a huge list of recipes that I want to try in next few weeks, so soon I will share some of them with you {*smile}.

Today I wanted to leave some photos of Split, our transfer point to go to the island of Vis. On the way back we decided to spend some time there, have a walk and dinner. I used to go to Split a lot with my parents and I wanted my family to see it, since it's a town I love.

Estou de volta, fisicamente... mas os meus pensamentos e alma ainda estão com a minha família e amigos.
Tenho uma lista enorme de receitas que quero experimentar nas próximas semanas, por isso em breve vou partilhar algumas com vocês {*smile}.

Hoje queria deixar-vos algumas fotos de Split, o nosso ponto de passagem para a ilha de Vis. No regresso decidimos passar algum tempo lá, dar um passeio e jantar. Eu costumava ir a Split com meus pais e queria que a minha família a visitasse, já que é uma cidade que eu adoro.
