Put a smile on your face

Are you a color type or do you prefer neutral colors?

Well, I can’t live without colors. I love to see all these nice white houses on the net but I wouldn’t be able to live in there. I think that, the first thing I would do, would be to get some paint and start... color makes me happy, makes my heart warm and makes me feel cozy.
That's why Rice is on the top of my favourite brands. Unfortunately it's hard to find their products in Portugal, but I try! (last year I went to Évora just because I found out that there was a shop that sells their products... call me crazy if you want {*smile})
When I go abroad I look for their shops... and their products, just put a smile on my face... so many colours, such a happy look!!!

Considera-se fã de cor, ou prefere cores neutras?

Bem, eu não posso viver sem cores. Gosto de ver essas casas brancas fantásticas na net, mas não seria capaz de viver nelas. Acho que, a primeira coisa que eu faria, seria arranjar umas tintas e começar... as cores fazem-me sentir feliz, aquecem-me o coração e fazem-me sentir confortável.
É por isso que a Rice está no topo das minhas marcas preferidas. Infelizmente é difícil encontrar os seus produtos em Portugal, mas eu tento! (no ano passado fui a Évora só porque descobri que havia uma loja que vende os seus produtos... pode-me chamar maluca se quiser {* sorriso})
Quando vou para fora, procuro as suas lojas... e os seus produtos põem um sorriso na meu rosto... tantas cores, uma aparência tão feliz!

Kifle

One of the reasons why I love weekends and holidays is a Queen Breakfast. Waking up late, take all the time to prepare a good breakfast and eat slowly. We use to make pancakes on Saturday mornings and it's kind of a ritual for kids... but this weekend I made this KIFLE (name in my language) with Hana. She really enjoys mixing, breaking eggs... and I use this baking time with her as a disguised math class {*smile}. She usually weights ingredients, adds, multiplies... real math on work!!!
Uma das razões pela qual eu adoro os fins-de-semana e feriados é o Pequeno-Almoço de Rainha. Acordar tarde, demorar para preparar um bom pequeno-almoço e comer devagar. Nós costumamos fazer panquecas aos sábados de manhã e é uma espécie de ritual para as crianças... mas este fim-de-semana fiz este Kifle (nome na minha língua), com a Hana. Ela gosta mesmo muito de misturar, partir os ovos... e eu uso este tempo de preparação para lhe fazer uma aula de matemática disfarçada {*smile}. Ela costuma pesar os ingredientes, adicionar, multiplicar... matemática pura no trabalho!!!

Chocolate Cookies

Spring is here and our visits to park are back. I love going out with kids, sit in the park and read while they play (if you have suggestion for some good book let me know {*smile} ).

I always bring some ’after school’ snack with us and the first thing they ask me when I go to pick them at school is: ’What did you bring to eat, mum?’

This week we had chocolate biscuits with strawberry jam filling in the park menu.

M. was yesterday complaining because he didn’t try any of it...


A Primavera chegou e as nossas idas ao parque estão de volta. Eu adoro sair com as crianças, sentar-me no parque e ler enquanto eles brincam (se tiver alguma sugestão de um bom livro, agradeço {*smile}).

Eu trago sempre alguns snacks ‘para depois da escola' connosco e a primeira coisa que me perguntam quando eu vou buscá-los à escola é: "O que é que trouxeste para comer, mãmã?"

Esta semana tivemos no menu parque biscoitos de chocolate com recheio de geleia de morango.

O M. ontem reclamou porque não sobrou nada para ele experimentar...

They Draw and Cook

Did you ever think on how cool it would be to have a book full of interesting recipes and that ever single one of them is illustrated by an artist?

I did and I got without my breath when I found they draw and cook.

Artists, illustrators, designers from all over the world can submit their illustrated recipes and I, an ordinary person, can use it without limitation… how cool is that???

I spent quite some time on the site and I loved it. You can search by ingredients, by name of dish or even look at the map and find the work of artists for one specific country.

Já alguma vez pensou em como seria fantástico ter um livro cheio de receitas interessantes e que todas elas fossem ilustradas por um artista?

Eu pensei e fiquei sem fôlego quando encontrei they draw and cook.

Artistas, ilustradores, designers de todo o mundo podem enviar as suas receitas ilustradas e eu, uma pessoa comum, posso usá-las sem limitação… não é fantástico???

Passei algum tempo no site e adorei. Pode-se procurar por ingredientes, pelo nome do prato ou até mesmo olhar para o mapa e encontrar o trabalho de artistas de um país específico.

Dia do pai

It was a week of work… making, taking pictures, printing… but we all enjoyed. And today… M. was really happy to receive a special present done with such a dedication and love.

Happy father's day!!!!


Foi uma semana de trabalho… fazer, fotografar, imprimir… mas todos gostamos. E hoje… o M. ficou muito feliz por receber um presente especial feito com tanta dedicação e amor.

Feliz dia do pai!!!!

Chocolate Cake

My younger one started in a new school this week. I admit I was bit afraid. Questions like: ’Is he going to adapt?’, ’How is he going to react?’, ’Will he miss his friends?’ were obsessing my mind. But, again, I realized that kids have marvelous ability to adapt. He was so proud of going to his sister's school, ’big kids school’, that he just entered and didn’t even turn to say goodbye. I was really proud of him.
So, now I have both kids going to the same school and I need to prepare two school snacks every day... some fruits, juices, sandwiches and a special treat this week... a piece of chocolate cake. A bit of spoil from their chicken mother {*smile}

O meu mais novo começou esta semana numa nova escola. Admito que estava um pouco receosa. Perguntas como: ‘Será que ele se vai adaptar?’, ‘Como é que ele vai reagir?’, ‘Será que ele vai sentir a falta dos seus amigos?’ estavam a atormentar a minha mente. Mas, mais uma vez, percebi que as crianças têm uma capacidade espantosa de adaptação. Ele estava tão orgulhoso por ir para a escola de irmã, "a escola dos grandes", que entrou e nem sequer se virou para dizer adeus. Fiquei muito orgulhosa por ele.
Então, agora tenho dois miúdos que vão para a mesma escola e preciso de preparar duas merendas todos os dias... algumas frutas, sumos, sanduíches e um tratamento especial esta semana... uma fatia de bolo de chocolate. Um pouco de mimo da sua mãe galinha {*smile}

Festa da Primavera

Back and with great news!!!
Did you already hear about Cabeçudos, a great children bookshop with a lot of great children books, toys, activities and story tellers?

If you didn’t then it is time to visit them and… what better excuse than to participate in a party?

Little Upside Down Cake is proud to be part of Festa da Primavera which will take part on Sunday 20th of March at Cabeçudos ..come to hear stories, take part in activities and eat some organic snack!!!

Apple and Blueberry Cobbler

They said it would rain… but at the end the weather was not that bad and the weekend was great. Grandparents took care of the kids and we had the weekend just for us.
Príncipe real, Chiado, Jardim de Estrela… cinemas, dinner out at my favorite restaurant where I can eat food my mother usually makes… what else can I ask for??

On Sunday we made lunch for 2 with fresh product we got on Saturday at the market and I made some apple and blueberry cobblers… OMG!!!! It was perfect!!!

And… what do you think about these nice small pots I got in A Vida Portuguesa? I love them!!!

A previsão era de chuva… mas afinal o tempo nem esteve assim tão mau e o fim-de-semana foi fantástico. Os avós tomaram conta das crianças e o fim-de-semana foi todo nosso.
Príncipe real, Chiado, Jardim de Estrela… cinemas, jantar no meu restaurante preferido onde posso comer a comida que a minha mãe costuma fazer… o que mais posso pedir??

No Domingo fizemos almoço para 2 com os produtos frescos que compramos no Sábado no mercado e fiz alguns cobblers de maçã e amoras… OMG!!!! Ficaram perfeitos!!!

E… o que acham destes simpáticos e pequenos recipientes que comprei n’A Vida Portuguesa? Eu adoro-os!!!
