Dinner to remember

As you probably know, last week I made 40.. and that my friend is a great reason to celebrate.
I wanted to have a dinner with people that make part of my daily life, once that are there when needed, with whom I can share good and bed news.
Since the beginning I knew I wanted to make it at Chef Nino, cosy and beautiful place that has a special place in my hart. Anna and Nini said yes immediately and since then they were so cool about making all my wishes come true {*smile}.
Their place is so pretty and I knew I don't need to do some extra decorations, but I wanted just some small personalised touches..and here enters Rita, with her great style and amazing work.
I just loved, loved, loved what she did (go here to see more).

These 3 ladies made my dream come true and I am so thankful for all they did. It was such a great dinner and night to remember!!!!

My weekend

Hello there!!
After a week of celebrating {*smile} , I am back... with a bit of hangover from being center of attention .
So...after all of the excitement I just wanted a calm weekend, and what is better then visiting one of my favourite places.

My Saturday in images

It happened this Saturday again. A day that we don't miss, a day when Teatro Maria Matos goes on the street and makes wonderful things for kids (and adults).
Drawings, experiments, theatre pieces, music, dance, cooking... for the third year they succeed to surprise us.

Aconteceu novamente este sábado. Um dia que não perdemos, um dia quando o Teatro Maria Matos vai para a rua e faz coisas maravilhosas para as crianças (e adultos).
Desenhos, experiências, peças de teatro, música, dança, culinária... pelo terceiro ano eles conseguem surpreender-nos.

My favourite holiday

For the last 11 years that I live in Portugal/Lisbon, June is my favourite month of the year.
It's the month of parties, grilled sardines and meat, caldo verde, music and marjoram.

Sto. António is Lisbon's saint and every year we go out to celebrate it together with everybody. Old Lisbon neighbourhoods are at party. There is grill with sardines almost in front of every house, sangria, wine, loud music... and I love Lisbon in June!!

Nos últimos 11 anos que vivo em Portugal/Lisboa, Junho é o meu mês preferido do ano.
É o mês das festas, das sardinha e carne assada, do caldo verde, de música e manjericos.

O Sto. António é o padroeiro de Lisboa e todos os anos saímos para o celebrar junto com toda a gente. Os antigos bairros de Lisboa estão a celebrar. Há grelhadores com sardinhas à frente de quase todas as casas, sangria, vinho, música alta... e eu adoro Lisboa em Junho!!

Weekend Top 5

It was such a great weekend! So many things happening and we enjoyed every one of them. Everything started some weeks ago when I, who never win nothing in life, won all access tickets for a great music festival, 2 nights in a 5 star hotel and a private concert of A banda mais bonita da cidade?!?! I just couldn't believe!!

There was a lot of logistic to deal with but, thanks to our friends and family, we succeeded and we made it... on Friday evening we were in our hotel room with a great view to a main Lisbon avenue.

Kind of entering a dream... we had our private concert and then headed to the festival, which happened on different spots (cinema, theater, metro station...) on the avenue.

Great mood everywhere, people enjoying concerts and music... personally I loved a few concerts but, without a doubt, my favourite was Oh Land.

Saturday, during the day, we still had time to do some shopping on the market, go to Sintra for a walk and visit an unbelievable place, Flores do Cabo, where my friend Laetitia was selling her great teas.

Foi um fim-de-semana tão bom! Tantas coisas a acontecer e nós a desfrutarmos cada uma delas. Tudo começou há umas semanas quando eu, que nunca ganho nada na vida, ganhei bilhetes all access para um festival de música muito bom, 2 noites num hotel 5 estrelas e um concerto privado d'A banda mais bonita da cidade?!?! Não dava para acreditar!!

Houve bastante logística envolvida mas, graças aos nossos amigos e familiares, conseguimos e estivemos lá... na sexta-feira à noite estávamos no nosso quarto de hotel que tinha uma vista excelente para a principal avenida de Lisboa.

Foi como entrar num sonho... tivemos o nosso concerto privado e a seguir fomos para o festival, que aconteceu em pontos diferentes (cinema, teatro, estação de metro...) da avenida.

Óptimo ambiente por todo o lado, as pessoas a desfrutarem os concertos e a música... pessoalmente adorei alguns concertos mas, sem dúvida, o meu favorito foi Oh Land.

No Sábado, durante o dia, ainda tivemos tempo para fazer algumas compras no mercado, ir a Sintra para um passeio e visitar um lugar inacreditável, Flores do Cabo, onde a minha amiga Laetitia estava a vender os seus fantásticos chás.

Como foi o vosso fim-de-semana?

LX Factory

One of my favourites urban/artistic spaces in Lisbon is LX Factory. I love to go there and I don't need special reason to do it. It's enough to start thinking about Chef Nino ice creams and I am on my way.

Last Friday I had a few meetings scheduled in LX Factory and it was pure example of joining work with pleasure. After I finished work, I had a relaxed walk.

I love brick buildings, old spaces with high ceiling and here you can find all of that with significant urban touch. A lot of artists are having their ateliers there and it gives charm to this place.
My favorite is Ligia Casanova show room and I don't miss to go there, at least to get some inspiration.

You can find great places to eat... Cantina, Chef Nino, Taberna1300 and the best bookshop in town Ler Devagar.

Isn´t all of this enough good reason for a visit?

Um dos meus espaços urbanos/artísticos preferidos em Lisboa é o LX Factory. Gosto de lá ir e não preciso de um motivo especial para o fazer. É suficiente começar a pensar nos gelados do Chef Nino e estou n caminho.

Na passada Sexta-feira tive algumas reuniões agendadas no LX Factory e foi um exemplo puro de combinar trabalho com prazer. Depois de terminar o trabalho, fiz um passeio descontraído.

Adoro os edifícios de tijolo, espaços antigos com teto alto e lá pode-se encontrar tudo isso com um significativo toque urbano. Muitos artistas têm lá os seus ateliers o que dá charme ao lugar.
O meu favorito é o show room da Ligia Casanova e não deixei de lá ir, pelo menos para conseguir alguma inspiração.

Podem-se encontrar óptimos lugares para comer... Cantina, Chef Nino, Taberna1300 e a melhor livraria da cidade Ler Devagar.

Não é tudo isto motivo suficientemente bom para uma visita?

Pois Café & Alfama

My favorite place to have lunch and snack in Lisbon is Pois café. This place feels so cozy and warm. I usually take some book or a magazine that they have all around (they even sell books by weight {*smile}), dip in one of the sofas and have my coffee slowly while the kids are playing in the 'kids' corner'. They love to go there and I enjoy my moment while they play.

There is one important thing about this place... well, actually it is fact, I never resist their desserts... if I go there I know I will have to eat something sweet, even if I steal some bites from M.

Pois café is on the back of the really famous Lisbon cathedral and the neighbourhood is really typical.

On Wednesday I had my lunch there and then spent the afternoon wandering up and down the streets. I love these tiny, straight streets, ceramic tiles, clothes hanging from every window, the smell of grilled sardines and fado coming out of the houses. It is really unique feeling and quite typical for an old Lisbon neighborhood like Alfama.

O meu lugar preferido para almoçar e comer um snack em Lisboa é o Pois café. É um sítio tão confortável e acolhedor! Costumo levar um livro ou escolher uma revista que eles têm por todo o lado (até vendem livros ao peso {*smile}), mergulho num dos sofás e bebo o meu café lentamente enquanto as crianças brincam no 'canto das crianças'. Eles gostam de lá ir e eu gosto de ter o meu momento enquanto eles jogam.

Há uma coisa importante sobre este lugar... bem, na verdade, é um facto, eu não resisto às sobremesas... quando vou lá eu sei que vou ter de comer algo doce, mesmo que tenha de roubar algumas dentadas ao M.

O Pois café fica na parte de trás da catedral mais famosa de Lisboa e o bairro é muito típico.

Na quarta-feira eu fui lá almoçar e depois passei a tarde a vaguear pelas ruas para cima e para baixo. Adoro aquelas ruas minúsculas e direitas, os azulejos, as roupas penduradas em cada janela, o cheiro a sardinha assada e o fado que sai das casas. É realmente uma sensação única e bastante típica de um bairro da Lisboa antiga, como Alfama.

My weekend and Royale Café

The weekend was absolutely great. We went to the market, fairs, museum, lunch with friends, eating my favourite ice cream, beach and lunch at my usual Saturday spot... Royale Café. It's a small cozy restaurant in the old part of Lisbon, but with really modern design and a small beautifully green terrace. I love to go there and I feel really good every time I enter. People working there are so friendly and make you feel at home.

The food... well, from toasts, salads, great octopus and codfish (my favourites)... there is lot to choose from.

O fim-de-semana foi absolutamente fantástico. Fomos ao mercado, feiras, museu, um almoço com amigos, comer o meu gelado preferido, praia e almoço no lugar habitual de sábado... o Royale Café. É um restaurante pequeno e acolhedor, na parte antiga de Lisboa, mas com um design muito moderno e um pequeno terraço lindamente verde. Gosto de lá ir e sinto-me muito bem cada vez que entro. As pessoas que lá trabalham são muito afáveis e fazem-me sentir em casa.

A comida... bem, das torradas às saladas, um fantástico polvo e bacalhau (os meus preferidos)... há muito por onde escolher.
