Blackberry and Rhubarb Dumplings

I grew up in a small town where all neighbors knew each other. It was completely normal to knock on a neighbor's door to ask for an extra egg that you miss or have a morning coffee all together..

It was normal to get spontaneous visits, there was no ceremony, neither a bunch of talk to agree when can people meet. Everything was more spontaneous, without stress... somebody would just knock on your door and you would have a visit {*smile}. I loved that, there was always some action and movements through the house.

Nowadays I have to admit that I really miss these spontaneous visits and that is the reason why I got so happy when, on Friday evening, my friend came to visit me and we stood together until midnight drinking tea, eating dumplings that I made earlier that day, talked and laughed. Great evening!!!

Grande noite!

Berry and Rhubarb Crumble

While doing my week shopping this weekend i found rhubarb and I just couldn’t resist...as soon as I came home I made some berry and rhubarb crumble with a bit of cardamom.
Rhubarb acid touch with a scent of cardamom...great. I still had some homemade vanilla ice cream ,and It made perfect pair..Actually I am thinking to frozen some rhubarb to have it for winter, something I never tried to do. Do you have experience with it? Some suggestions?

Crunchy Blackberry, Rhubarb and Mint Tart

Yesterday I had lunch with someone I met lately, through my blog, someone who is passionate about medical and aromatic herbs. I loved speaking with her, exchanging some ideas and I came back home ready to make something. So ,since I had small mini garden at my terrace I took a lot of mint and made this Crunchy Blackberry, Rhubarb and mint tart.

Rhubarb mousse with yogurt and Berry gelee

Rhubarb…I really like it’s taste in cakes, and since some weeks ago all cooking blogs are full of tempting recipes with it, but unfortunately it is not easy to find it in Portugal.
So..when last Friday I went to visit Miosotis ,organic supermarket, I got so excited when I found it there. Off course I immediately bought it and already on Saturday I was cooking it. My first choice, from the list of recipes I would like to make with rhubarb ,was rhubarb mousse with yogurt and berry gelee...and I loved it.
It was great choice for hot weekend we had. Bit acid, light and refreshing...
