Italy

Despite not being Italian, neither ever lived in Italy (for more than 1 month), whenever I'm in Italy, I feel as I am home.
In Italy everything goes around food and wine. Every village, every house, has its own specialty which they are proud of. This was my first time visiting the Abbruzo region and it happened the same.
Italian Nonna welcomed us to her house, happy to teach us some of her favourite recipes. Nonno came along and, a bit latter, a neighbour stopped by. The house was full, but she kept working and explaining... and she was so happy having all of us there.
We made some Caggionetti, Abruzzo’s traditional Christmas treats, and they were divine.

Apesar de não ser italiana, nem nunca ter vivido em Itália (mais de 1 mês), sempre que estou na Itália, sinto-me como se estivesse em casa.
Em Itália tudo anda em torno da comida e vinho. Cada aldeia, cada casa, tem a sua própria especialidade, a qual é motivo de orgulho. Esta foi a minha primeira vez a visitar a região de Abbruzo e aconteceu o mesmo.
A Italiana Nonna acolheu-nos em sua casa, feliz por nos ensinar algumas das suas receitas preferidas. Nonno também apareceu e, pouco tempo depois, um vizinho apareceu. A casa estava cheia, mas ela continuou a trabalhar e a explicar... e estava muito contente por nos ter todos lá.
Fizemos algumas Caggionetti, a especialidade tradicional de Natal de Abruzzo, e estavam divinais.

The next day we had a class with Nikole Herriott and Jennifer Causey.
Nikole was styling and Jen was photographing. For me it was a great experience watching two of the people that I really admire, working and complementing each other.
We tried to style and photograph our own sets... I loved the experience.

No dia seguinte, tivemos uma aula com a Nikole Herriott e a Jennifer Causey.
A Nikole fez o styling e a Jen fotografou. Para mim foi uma experiência enorme assistir a duas pessoas que eu realmente admiro, a trabalhar e a complementarem-se uma à outra.
Nós tentamos também fazer o styling e fotografar os nossos próprios sets... adorei a experiência.

Italian Market

Whenever I go abroad, the first thing that I want to visit is a local market. Markets say so much about a place! Locals chatting and discussing with farmers, colours and the smell of food, fresh products hanging from the shelfs... everything about a market is absolutely amazing.

When I heard that Nikole is coming to teach about food styling and photography in Italy and that we would visit a local market on our first day... let's put it together... Italy, market, Nikole teaching, I don't need more to convince me to join in.

Sempre que vou para fora, a primeira coisa que quero visitar é um mercado local. Os mercados dizem muito sobre um lugar. Os locais a conversar e a discutir com os agricultores, as cores e o cheiro a comida, produtos frescos pendurados nas prateleiras... tudo sobre o mercado é absolutamente incrível.

Quando ouvi que a Nikole vinha ensinar fotografia e styling de comida em Itália e que iríamos visitar um mercado local no nosso primeiro dia... juntando as peças... Itália, mercado, Nikole a ensinar, não preciso de mais para me convencer a ir.

In small Italian villages it's usual that the market goes from one place to the other during the week and we were lucky that, on Thursday, was the market day in Roseto.

It was quite small but full of great things... cheese, sausages, fish, vegetables, fruits... my eyes were wide open, my nose was trying to absorb all of the fragrances, I was in paradise!!

Nas vilas pequenas italianas, é normal o mercado ir de um lugar para o outro durante a semana e nós tivemos sorte de, na quinta-feira, ser o dia de mercado em Roseto.

Era pequeno, mas cheia de coisas óptimas... queijo, salsichas, peixe, legumes, frutas ... os meus olhos estavam bem abertos, meu nariz estava a tentar absorver todos os aromas, eu estava no paraíso!

Our local guide was great explaining all of the local specialities that we could find around and, when he got tired, he just invited us for a glass of wine.
Drinking wine and eating cheese at 10 o'clock in the morning... not bad at all! {*smile}

O nosso guia local foi fantástico a explicar todas as especialidades locais que poderíamos encontrar por alí e, quando se cansou, convidou-nos para um copo de vinho.
Beber vinho e comer queijo às 10 horas da manhã... não é nada mau! {*smile}

My food photography

I wanted to share with you today some news regarding my food photography.
Since last week my photos are available on Stock Food and I am really happy about it.
We worked on it for some time, were interrupted by vacations, but September started with all of these great things happening.

Gostava de partilhar hoje convosco algumas notícias sobre a minha fotografia de comida.
Desde a semana passada que as minhas fotos estão disponíveis no Stock Food e estou muito feliz com isso.
Trabalhamos nisso algum tempo, fomos interrompidos pelas férias, mas Setembro começou com todas essas coisas fantásticas a acontecer.

Nikole Herriott and Forty Sixth At Grace

Lately I am spending a lot of time in one blogin particular and, since I find it so inspiring, I wanted to share it with you.

Did you know about Forty Sixth At Grace? If you didn't, I think it's about time.

Nikole is a great stylist and photographer and, besides that, she and her father have this lovely online shop selling hand carved and hand turned wooden objects (you can read about their story here).

I can get completely lost in her stories, photos, styling and, as I said, spent hour looking at it.

New Friends

Yes, I AM completely aware of the number of posts that I wrote about France. But, believe me, I am trying to control myself... if not you would see much more of it.

Anyway, THIS specific post about France is different. It's a post about the new friends that I made there. It's a post about the talented girls I met and immediately felt connection with. It's a post about Lorna, Romina, Kimberly, Olivia, Jennifer, Stephanie, Nadia and Aran.

We spent 4 days together, but it felt much more. We worked, we ate, we laughed, we cried and we left France with the heart full.

This post is about my new 8 friends that I am proud of, a post about 8 great girls that I miss and I hope to meet again.

Sim, eu estou completamente ciente do número de posts que escrevi sobre França. Mas, acreditem em mim, estou a tentar controlar-me... senão iriam ver muitos mais.

De qualquer forma, este post específico sobre França é diferente. É um post sobre as novas amigas que lá fiz. É um post sobre as meninas talentosas que conheci e com as quais senti imediatamente uma ligação. É um post sobre a Lorna, a Romina, a Kimberly, a Olivia, a Jennifer, a Stephanie, a Nadia e a Aran.

Passamos 4 dias juntas, mas pareceram muitos mais. Trabalhamos, comemos, nós rimos, nós choramos e saímos de França com o coração cheio.

Este post é sobre as minhas 8 novas amigas das quais eu tenho orgulho, um post sobre 8 fantásticas meninas de quem eu sinto falta e espero encontrar novamente.

Autumn Picnic

I think this was the last summertime weekend we had in Lisbon. I could feel autumn coming... the morning fog, lower temperatures and cozy feeling. I am happy for it... I am in the mood for roasted chestnuts and hot tea before going to sleep. How about you?

I took some time to prepare this post. These photos are from our 2nd day in France. With the styling and atmosphere that we had for the shoot, it was easy to make so many great photos, but it was not easy to choose.

Acho que este foi o último fim-de-semana com tempo de Verão que tivemos em Lisboa. Estou a senti o Outono a chegar... a neblina da manhã, as temperaturas mais baixas e a sensação de aconchego. Estou feliz por isso... estou com vontade de comer castanhas assadas e beber chá quente antes de ir dormir. E vocês?

Demorei algum tempo para preparar este post. Estas fotos são do nosso 2º dia em França. Com o styling e a atmosfera que tínhamos para a sessão, foi fácil fazer tantas fotografias óptimas, mas não foi fácil escolher.

France: Day 4

I am back home but my thoughts are still here.....



Estou de volta, mas os meus pensamentos ainda estão aqui.......

France: Day 3

Unfortunately everything great in life last short, so it is with my trip to France. Today was the last day of the workshop, tomorrow we have a day to rest and visit some fantastic places and after I will head back to Bordeaux. These last 3 days were a beautiful dream. Amazing things happened:
* arriving at Bordeaux and having the help of a French girl who didn't just explain me where's the place that I needed to go, but bringing me to that place by herself
* having a ride to Vézac with three amazing ladies, who made me laugh with their stories all the time
*learning from Aran, which is not just great professional, but a great person in first place
*having Nadia and Stephanie available for everything I needed and happy to help
*eating great food and having so much fun.

What could I ask or need more?

As I said, today was the last day and our theme was 'From the market to the desk'.
We visited the local market in Sarlat and, I can tell, that place is absolutely amazing! You could find all kinds of vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, local cheeses and sausages, bread, pastries, flowers...

We bought everything for our lunch and went home to prepare mushrooms risotto. Styling, photographing, eating, editing, checking...

I must say I will be quite sad tomorrow but I am sure I will meet these girls again. I will leave this place with that thought on my mind.

Infelizmente tudo o que é bom na vida dura pouco, o que vai acontecer com a minha viagem a França. Hoje foi o último dia do workshop, amanhã temos um dia para descansar e visitar alguns lugares fantásticos e depois vou voltar para Bordéus. Estes últimos 3 dias foram um lindo sonho. Coisas incríveis aconteceram:
* Chegar a Bordéus e ter a ajuda de uma francesa que, não só me explicou onde era o sítio para onde eu precisava de ir, mas levou-me a esse lugar ela mesma
* Ter um passeio para Vézac com três senhoras incríveis, que me fizeram rir o tempo todo com as suas histórias
* aprender com a Aran, que não é apenas uma grande profissional, mas uma grande pessoa em primeiro lugar
* ter a Nadia e a Stephanie disponíveis para tudo que eu precisava e felizes por ajudar
* comer boa comida e divertir-me muito.

O que eu poderia pedir ou precisar mais?
Como disse, hoje foi o último dia e o nosso tema foi 'Do mercado para a mesa'.

Visitamos o mercado local em Sarlat e, devo dizer, aquele lugar é absolutamente incrível! Pode-se encontrar todos os tipos de legumes, frutas, cogumelos, queijos e enchidos locais, pão, bolos, flores ...

Nós compramos tudo para o nosso almoço e fomos para casa para preparar o risotto de cogumelos. Styling, fotografar, comer, editar, verificar...

Devo dizer que ficarei muito triste amanhã, mas tenho a certeza de que irei encontrar-me com estas meninas novamente. Vou deixar este lugar com esse pensamento na minha mente.
